The Complete Works of William Shatner: Abridged
Last night we had our first “production meeting” for this year’s Fringe Festival show. As things have started to come together, I’m getting more excited about our show and about our cast.
The show is “The Complete Works of William Shatner: Abridged” and it is being co-written by me and the amazingly talented Bill Stiteler, co-writer of “Macbeth: The Video Game Remix”. We explore the complex relationship of William Shatner to some of his most iconic roles and it will feature a lot of Star Trek jokes, at least one actor riding on a car hood and an unforgettable rendition of “Rocket Man.”
The cast brings together a lot of my favorite actors including Windy Bowlsby, Tim Uren and Duck Washington as various incarnations of The Shat.
Presented as part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the show will take place on the Rarig Thrust stage, which is a killer venue for any show. It’ll be my first time doing a show on the thrust and I’m very excited.
John Newstrom, my collaborator from last year’s popular Fringe show “Highlander: The Musical” will be our director and he has a lot of good ideas for staging already. I anticipate a lot of dive rolls.
And hey! We will be borrowing set pieces from Joseph Scrimshaw so our comedy pedigree is SOLID!
Show dates and times:
Saturday, August 4th – 1:00 PM
Sunday, August 5th – 5:30 PM
Tuesday, August 7th – 7:00 PM
Friday, August 10th – 5:30 PM
Sunday, August 12th – 4:00 PM
I’m sure I’ll write more about the show as it develops but I felt like blogging just because this project is going to be a ton of fun and I want others to get excited about it!
If you are interested in other performances I have coming up, you can always look at my Upcoming Performances page. It is usually pretty up-to-date!
