I note that yes, the shooting in Colorado pissed me off.  But I’m not going to write about it because fuck that guy.  This is all the 1’s and 0’s I’m going to commit to him.

The Mitt Romney Bain Debacle

What pisses me off is that there is no there there.  I’m a liberal.  I don’t like Romney.

Yet if you read the article linked above that quotes both anonymous and public sources who are Democrats that Support Obama, this whole thing appears to be much ado about nothing.

The Bain issue appears to be the Democratic equivalent of a swiftboat campaign.  There are a lot of good reasons why Romney shouldn’t be our next President.  If there is an honest belief he can’t be beaten on those grounds, the problem is with our campaign.

Just look at the guy! I’m telling you, he’s an Auton!

I don’t like it when Republicans lie and obscure facts because I don’t agree with the majority of their agenda and if people really understood it, I don’t think a lot of others would either.

What I really hate, though, is when Democrats do the same thing.  I know – they do it all the time.

But I agree with them most of the time and I wish they would figure out how to get people to understand their point of view without resorting to misdirection.

You know, that whole “spare the rod, spoil the child”  philosophy really annoys me to begin with because it presumes that the best way to discipline a child for any wrongdoing is to hit them.   It further presumes that hitting them more will help even more.

So, the logic goes, if you lock a child in a chicken coop for failing to do her chores properly, you are being even more holy.

Look, I know there are some beautiful passages in the bible about love and compassion and forgiveness.  Yet any book that has passages allowing sadistic fucks to justify being sadistic fucks is one that I simply can’t support.

Yeah, that’s right.  If the victims dressed like Muslim women, they would not have been sexually assaulted.

Never mind that in most Muslim countries, a woman who is dressed like a Muslim is still blamed when she gets raped.  She can even be put to death.  Because she got raped.  Even though she was “dressed appropriately.”

Not Dressed like a Muslim? Totally asking for it!

You know the biggest obstacle to reducing the number of sexual assaults?

The number of people who seem to forget that rape is the fault of the rapist and not the person who gets raped.

I don’t think it is possible to overstate my response so:

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE????

Not only does the guy have the right to dislike the movie, you psychotic creeps haven’t even seen the movie yet!!!

Look, I want The Dark Knight Rises to kick holy ass.  You know what?  It might not.

Or I might love it and think Marshall Fine was clearly watching a different movie.  So what?  It is his opinion. He has a right to it.  You have a right to disagree.

Don’t you think that you should wait to disagree until you have seen the fucking movie?

Boy Scouts Affirm Anti-Gay Policy

I’m not going to lie and say that I thought they would do any differently.  I considered it a step that they even spent time thinking about the issue.

Allow me to be upset about it, though.  For an organization that does so much good, I wish they were out front on this issue rather than tragically behind.

Someday, the Boy Scouts will drop this policy.  It might not be for twenty years but this policy is not one than will stand forever.  Yet how tragic is it that it still exists?  Here’s what they said:

The vast majority of the parents of youth we serve value their right to address issues of same-sex orientation within their family, with spiritual advisers and at the appropriate time and in the right setting…We fully understand that no single policy will accommodate the many diverse views among our membership or society.

So, in other words, “gay people make a lot of parents uncomfortable and rather than concluding that is their problem, we decided to make it ours.”

Another way to put it “Scouting should be a safe place for boys.  Unless they are gay.”

Texting Friendly Movie Theatres???

The idea being floated by some theatre chains is having “texting” friendly showings so people who can’t keep their hands off their smart phone for two hours will be able to enjoy the film and endless banal chatter with their BFF’s.

NO!

I’m serious – you people have a problem

Are the theatre chains losing money from people who are unwilling to attend a showing because they are not supposed to use their phones when they are watching a movie?

I honestly doubt it.  If they are, the solution does not lie in pandering to those people but in teaching people that they shouldn’t be assholes.

And if you are reading this blog post and thinking “I’ve texted in a movie theatre, does that make me an asshole?”

YES.

Chick-Fil-A President Affirms His Companies’ Anti-Gay Stance

Not a surprise to anyone, the ultra conservative ownership of Chick-Fil-A has reminded anyone with a conscience why they should get their breaded chicken from another source.  Here’s my favorite quote from Don Cathy, President of the company:

I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about..

Hang on…really?  Let’s take a look at how the bible defines marriage:

How about you back off the definition of marriage a little bit, Mr. Cathy?

God hasn’t shown a whole lot of consistency on that front, has he?  Given that fact, isn’t your attitude just a little bit “prideful” and “arrogant?”  You seem to presume to know the mind of god even though the book on which you base your knowledge is pretty wishy-washy on the subject.

Michele Bachmann is Still Crazy and Still from Minnesota

The fact that this paranoid crazy person is representing my state really bugs me.

John Boehner, who will come to the defense of just about any House Republican for just about any reason, can’t even defend her statements against Huma Abedin.  You know why?  Because they are so far removed from reality, there is no rational defense.

Bachmann, for her part, doesn’t have to apologize or even pretend she didn’t say it because she is still in a district that is so conservative, they would rather vote for a crazy Republican than a sane Democrat.

And she represents my state!
