My CONvergence Schedule
Boy do I have a lot going on at the convention this weekend. While I have no idea why anyone would be interested in tracking me around the con, just in case you have an interest in stalking (or avoiding) me, here’s what I’ll be up to at the convention.
Thursday, July 4th
6:00 PM – The Mark Time Radio Show. I’ve been a voice actor on this show for um…about ten years? This year’s show is an expanded version of “The Sword in the Couch,” which was featured at the first Big Fun Radio Funtime show.
7:00 PM – Opening Ceremonies. I wrote and directed the Opening sketch and I’m pretty happy with it. All I can say about the sketch is that it is going to be awesome. It s also filled to overflowing with amazing talent. I also contributed a little bit of writing to the rest of Opening Ceremonies and rumor has it I might be helping out with at least one bit.
9:00 PM – Super Spy Smackdown. I will be the Master of Ceremonies for an epic battle between the greatest super spies ever assembled. Comedy commentary will be provided by a team of experts including Tim Uren, Joseph Scrimshaw, Dawn Krosnowski, Kelvin Hatle, Caroline Symcox and Christopher Jones. As always, Melissa Kaercher will be running the tech.
11:00 PM – Vilification Tennis takes over the Fearless Comedy Room Party in room 224!
Friday, July 5th
This is one of the most insanely scheduled days I’ve ever had at CONvergence. If I am still standing at the end of the day, I expect a smattering of applause from someone, K?
12:30 PM – Kubricks “The Shining” in Depth. I and a number of folks who have seen “The Shining” far more than me will be deconstructing the film all film school style. I’ll mostly be moderating this one.
2:00 PM – Judging a Book By It’s Cover. Late addition for me! I’m going to be the MC for this panel in which a team of panelists will attempt to determine the story of a novel based on nothing more than the cover art. Sounds pretty awesome.
3:30 PM – It’s a CONspiracy! I’m really looking forward to this one. I’ll be making up conspiracy theories with Jeremy Stomberg, Nick Glover and Molly Glover. It is going to be quite silly.
5:00 PM – Comedy on the Internet. Here’s another one where I’ll probably just shut up and let other people talk. I’ll be joined by Joseph Scrimshaw, Rebecca Watson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy as we discuss what changes about comedy when you are doing it online.
7:00 PM – You’re Making That Up. And more comedy! This time I’ll be playing a game in which me (and other panelists) will need to make up stories about whatever the host asks us to talk about. Panelists include Joseph Scrimshaw (yes – again), Sharon Stiteler and Paul Cornell.
8:00 PM – Geeks Without God hosts an hour at the Fearless Room party! We’ll be raffling off an autographed copy of the Left Behind Board Game!
11:30 PM – The Dregs hit the Harmonic CONvergence stage. We’ll be playing a lot of new stuff and a few old favorites. The show will, most likely, be too short for many folks.
Saturday, July 6th
Compared to Friday, Saturday is SUPER light.
3:30 PM – Skyfall and Bond at 50. I’m moderating this one so I will do my best to shut up about my own opinions about Bond. Christopher Jones, James Moran, Romeo Azar and Sharon Stiteler will be doing all of the opining.
5:00 PM – Geeks Without God LIVE. We celebate our first year podcasting with a live recording. We’ll record an episode with Melissa Kaercher and another with PZ Myers.
10:00 PM – Vilification Tennis takes to the Main Stage. It will be fucking nuts.
Sunday, July 7th
9:30 AM – Hungover with Geeks. A 9:30 AM comedy panel about being hungover. I’ll be on the panel in spite of the fact I don’t drink and I won’t be hung over. I’ll probably be pretty tired.
11:00 AM – One on One with Kevin Murphy. As part of our series of Guest of Honor interviews, I’ll be sitting down and chatting with Kevin Murphy. I just get to ask him questions and let him answer them. I’ll have to try not to yawn on camera.
2:00 PM – Art: Impossible. I’ll be MC for a new art competition panel wherein artists will be given challenges varying in length from 5 to 30 minutes. It’s going to be pretty nuts. And hopefully funny. We’ll see how it goes.
5:00 PM – Closing Ceremonies. I’m not actually doing anything in Closing Ceremonies but if you watch the opening video, you will see my children and my kitchen. So there’s that.
