Fringe Reviews – Day 1

Neither of my shows open until the weekend so Thursday and Friday I can just enjoy some shows.  Yesterday I saw four shows.  My wife and I brought our kids to three of them and then I watched the fourth on my own.

Here’s what I thought about what I saw:

Fringe Festival 2012 – Narrowing Down the Choices

Well, here comes the Fringe!  In addition to the two shows I’m Producing, there are a lot of other shows I’m looking forward to seeing at the Festival this year.  I don’t imagine I’ll see everything on this list and I’m sure I’m missing some really good shows but right now, my list consists mostly of productions that feature at least one friend/acquaintance of mine.

I like comedy a lot so almost everything I’m going to see is a comedy.  I’m sure there will be some great dramas at the Fringe but I’m not a serious guy and that is reflected in my choices.

The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged) preview!

On Monday, we presented a preview of our Fringe show “The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged)” and we made the audience laugh.  I was the straight man.  Here’s the video – enjoy!

Two new podcasts for you!

Tuesday morning means a new Geeks Without God is live!  This week, we talked about the religious affiliation of Batman as well as other superheroes.  It’s our first podcast without a guest so we turned the spotlight on ourselves and I had to answer our five questions.  I do my best to explain the Alphabetical Movie Project.

Also up this week, a TC Theater podcast about The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged).  Josh interviewed Bill and I about the show and I would like to think we sound somewhat intelligent about the whole thing!

ANOTHER Fringe Show?

My producing partner, John Newstrom, was drawn dead last in the Fringe lottery this year.  As a result, I agreed to produce his show idea, The Complete Works of William Shatner.  I was already committed to writing the show and my idea was a pretty simple little improvisational structure I’ve wanted to do at the Fringe for a couple years.

It’s easy to produce and I figured that I could wait and produce it next year.

All the Shatners are together!

And now an image from “The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged)” that puts all of our Shatners on the same page!

That’s Brandon Ewald as Young Shatner, Duck Washington as TJ Hooker, Windy Bowlsby as Captain James T. Kirk, Tim Uren as the Priceline Negotiator and Me as a large lizard like alien that is NOT the Gorn.

No Gorn here.  Nope.  Definitely not the Gorn.

Look ma, another Shatner!

One more picture from “The Complete Works of William Shatner (Abridged)!”  Brandon Ewald as Young William Shatner!  I’m finally doing a show where someone is in a toga.

Thank goodness it isn’t me.

Another Shatner Show image!

Another promo shot from “The Complete Works of William Shatner (Abridged).”  This handsome fellow is me.  Not that you can particularly tell.
