New Geeks Without God Episode is Live!

This week’s episode is just the three of us talking about atheism.  We spent some time talking about the differences between “atheist” and “non-believer” before we moved on to talk about the Atheism Plus movement.  We also found time to read through another set of listener questions.  There’s a lot of big ideas and we didn’t really have time to get in-depth but it’s an interesting conversation about what is going on in the atheism movement right now.

Or at least a month ago when we recorded the episode.  If you choose to listen, I hope you enjoy it.

Geeks Without God is all new!

This week over at Geeks Without God, we have an episode with Ronn Bauman from the Tortuga Twins that was so awesome, we recorded it twice.

Actually, what literally happened was I was a dumb fuck and when I was saving the introduction to the episode, I named the file the same thing as the episode and I overwrote the file.  Turns out, that is just about the only mistake you can’t fix.

So we got together the following morning and recorded the podcast again.  And we did pretty well.  We don’t spend too much time talking about how we’ve said all of this stuff before.

Ronn is a big fan of our podcast and a terrific guest.  He was so good, in fact, that we recorded a second episode with him that I did not overwrite!  That one probably won’t air for a few months so for now, enjoy this one!

New post over at Geeks Without God

I’m moving some of my “atheist blogging” over to the Geeks Without God website.

Today, I’m posting a blog that explores the “atheism is a religion” debate.  I’ve talked about it a few times on this blog but the one thing I keep wondering is this: If Atheism is a religion, what isn’t?

A Very Special Birthday Episode of Geeks Without God!

Today is my birthday.  It is also time for a new episode of Geeks Without God!  Of course, I took some time to geek about the fact that the Indiana Jones Blu-Ray set was released for my birthday.  We also talked about the manned space program in the wake of Neil Armstrongs passing and we had our first set of listener submitted answers to our five questions!  It made us feel all important and stuff!  Go over and have a listen!

New Geeks Without God Podcast!

Yes, it’s Tuesday morning and that means a new Geeks Without God podcast is up at our website just this morning!  This week we have a discussion with Joshua Humprhey about The Amazing Meeting, which he attended in 2011 and 2012.  He really made us want to go.  Maybe we need to do a kickstarter to fund a GWG trip to Vegas so we can record a bunch of podcasts there!

Anyway, listen to the podcast because it’s awesome!  Or should I say AMAZING???

Two New Podcasts! AH HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!

Hey everyone!  Because of Labor day, you can listen to two new podcasts in which I prominently feature!

First up is our newest installment of Geeks Without God in which we talk about the 1960’s film Inherit the Wind starring Spencer Tracy and Fredrick March.  It’s one of my favorite films and had a lot to do with shaping my opinions regarding religion and evolution.  The podcast is really interesting (I think) and hopefully it’ll convince folks who haven’t seen the movie to check it out!  So give it a listen!

Also, we have a new Vilification Tennis podcast.  We finally got Lauren, our youngest vilifier, on the Podcast and she initiated a fascinating discussion about driving.  She doesn’t want to get her license and the rest of us try to convince her that she should by telling her horror stories about our experiences as young drivers.  It doesn’t seem to work.  We also talked about a lot of other stuff.  Enjoy!

New Geeks Without God Available!

Greetings my friends!  If you haven’t heard already, we have a new Geeks Without God podcast available for your enjoyment!  It must be Tuesday morning or something!

This week, we have guest Laura Okagaki-Vraspir talking to us about her work as a biologist.  We got her to tell us about zombie ant fungi, which we all thought were unbelievably cool.  You should take a listen!

Geeks Without God Episode 7

If I’m posting about a new Geeks Without God podcast, it must be Monday! Episode 7 is a Geeky Boner* episode.  We talk about Mars Curiosity, Running with Zombies and other geeky stuff, including “Atheist Voices of Minnesota.

If I can make a personal comment about this week’s episode (of course I can – it’s my blog), I feel pretty good about how the three of us are coming together for our guest-free podcasts.  It’s a learning experience to share hosting duties but we’re figuring it out.  So hooray – go team Geeks Without God!

*Geeky Boner is how we refer to our latest geeky obsessions.  This is all thanks to the fact Molly always talks about how she gets big old geeky boners for stuff.

A Couple nice Blog entries about Geeks Without God!

By the time we were recording our fourth episode at CONvergence, I feel like the three of us were starting to figure out how to do our jobs.  It has been over a month and we have finally posted that episode (which ended up being our sixth).  I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out and so, it would seem, were our two guests.

Both Stephanie Zvan and Jason Thibeault have blogged about being on the podcast and while I really appreciate the signal boost, I am more appreciative that they enjoyed the experience and want to share it with others.

So hey – back at both of them!  Stephanie’s blog is Almost Diamonds and Jason’s is Lousy Canuck.  They are both over at FreethoughtBlogs and you should read what they have to say.

A new Episode of Geeks Without God is up!

The final episode recorded at CONvergence 2012 is live!  We talked to Stephanie Zvan and Jason Thibeault from FreethoughtBlogs about the Ancient Alien debate that took place at the convention.  It was a lot of fun to record.  Because Stephanie is local, we’ll have to get her back on the podcast soon.  Jason is a Canadian so it might take a while to get him back.

Unless we figure out how to record a podcast using Skype.  That’d take all sorts of work and stuff so we probably don’t want to do that right away…
