Monday Morning Comedy!

I wrote an article for the Vilification Tennis website this week!

I actually wrote it quite some time ago but it wasn’t time sensitive so it’s been gathering dust on the comedy shelf.  This week, it finally sees the light of day!

So please, go over and read it.  I think it’s pretty darned amusing.

Check out the swank art for the next Vilification Tennis show

We are still in the midst of the Renaissance Festival but our work on our Bryant Lake Bowl season of shows is already gearing up.

In October, we’ll be presenting two nights of Vilification Tennis LOVES America!  Art for the show and information about our upcoming season below the fold.

What I should have said

You know, Minnesotans for Marriage were out at the State Fair today.  We all know that I don’t have a lot of respect for them and I suppose I should have gone up to them and said something.  They all wore bright green T-shirts and they were very cherrfully chatting up the small contingent of people who came to their booth while dozens of folks with orange “Vote NO” fans streamed past.  I should have gone up and talked to them.  I should have told them that I feel their position is untenable and if they win in November, they have committed what I would consider to be a wholly evil act.

What’s the point, though?  If you are so convinced that marriage equity is a horrible thing, I’m not going to say anything that will change your mind.  If I come up and ask some sort of “gotcha” question, they will just smile and answer me with the same idiotic excuses they have been using to justify their beliefs for the last several months.  The net result will be that I wasted fifteen minutes in which I could have been eating a Pronto Pup.

If I had walked up to them, though, here are some questions I might have asked:

New Comedy Writing

I’ve got quite a few new articles up at the Vilification Tennis website this morning.

I wrote the World News article this morning looking at doubts surrounding Mitt Romney’s Citizenship.

I also wrote a new Movie Dick article about a brand new genre in movie making – the “film in which the title character doesn’t appear” genre.

And finally, after a brief hiatus, we have a new episode of the Vilification Tennis Podcast up!  We recorded it in the MN Renaissance Festival campground on Friday night and it is pretty entertaining.

So pop on over and take a look if you like!

Stop Talking: The Video

Windy shot some amusing video from stage during last Thursday’s performance of Stop Talking: The Game of Talking.  If you want to watch the videos, they are embedded below the fold.

New Movie Silliness written by me

I have a new Movie Dick article up for New Content day on the Vilification Tennis website.  I make fun of Kate Beckinsale who, I’m sorry to say, is a pretty easy target.

Fringe Festival 2012 – Narrowing Down the Choices

Well, here comes the Fringe!  In addition to the two shows I’m Producing, there are a lot of other shows I’m looking forward to seeing at the Festival this year.  I don’t imagine I’ll see everything on this list and I’m sure I’m missing some really good shows but right now, my list consists mostly of productions that feature at least one friend/acquaintance of mine.

I like comedy a lot so almost everything I’m going to see is a comedy.  I’m sure there will be some great dramas at the Fringe but I’m not a serious guy and that is reflected in my choices.

Social Commentary Disguised as Humor?

I’m pretty happy with my new article over at the Vilification Tennis website.

I got to thinking how uninformed the American public is in general and how that might relate to death of Sally Ride.  So I wrote this piece that went live this morning.

Go check it out and ask yourself, it is so far removed from the truth?

The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged) preview!

On Monday, we presented a preview of our Fringe show “The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged)” and we made the audience laugh.  I was the straight man.  Here’s the video – enjoy!

Shit that Pissed me Off This Week – 7/27

Some guy kills a bunch of people in a Movie Theatre and Some other guy on Facebook has a Solution

So first off, thanks for taking a horrible tragedy and making it all about your agenda.  Well done.

This is not a guns are awesome/guns are awful thing.  I’ve talked about that before.  This is a “what are you – stupid?” thing.

You don’t know what the fuck you are talking about because the guy released tear gas into the theatre and then opened fire.  If you were in that theater with a gun, you would have needed to get a clear shot at the killer so that you wouldn’t kill any of the panicking crowd that is all around him.  In a theatre filled with tear gas. Your odds of killing an innocent bystander are probably just as high or higher than your odds of killing the bad guy.

It’s great to think that if you were there, you would have saved more people.  We all want to believe that.  It’s bullshit.  John McLean is a character in a movie.

A guy walks into a packed theatre, fills it with smoke and starts shooting, a bunch of people are going to die.  If you were there and you had a gun, you wouldn’t have stopped it from happening.  You are not Rambo.
