Geeks Without God is all New!
Another Tuesday morning means another Geeks Without God podcast! This week we talk about The Contender, a fine political film that happens to feature an atheist protagonist.
The film led us to a conversation about all sorts of topics including, at times, the actual movie. I really enjoy the in-depth movie episodes because it involves watching good movies and then seeing where the film takes us.
You can listen to it here.
I’ve Written and Recorded more Stuff you can Listen to and Read!
New content day over at Vilification Tennis. I’ve written a new Movie Dick article about the upcoming “Oscar season” in the movie theatres.
Additionally, I’ve recorded a new podcast with a few of the vilifiers in which we discuss disparate topics like the price of Brazilian virginity, the most badass American Presidents and Halloween costumes. It’s a pretty funny podcast, which is good because that was the goal.
So please, listen and/or read! Thanks!
Geeks Without God is Getting all Political this Week
This week features an episode we recorded back at the Renaissance Festival. We sat down with Tony Miller (Shamus the Insulter) to talk to him about being raised as a Menonite. I still think we need to back to talking about him about that because we ended up getting sidetracked by the upcoming gay marriage amendment.
Obviously, I’ve spent a lot of time writing and talking about the amendment but I really liked a lot of the things Tony said in this episode. We decided to schedule it a couple weeks before the election in hopes that it might change someone’s mind. Even if it doesn’t change your mind, I’m hoping that we can inspire a few people to talk about it to family and friends who are still going to vote “yes.”
People who vote “yes” don’t want to talk about it. At some level, I believe they understand that their decision to vote “yes” is a hurtful act and they don’t like to be told. This isn’t an ideological conservative vs. liberal issue. It is a “fucking over a minority issue.” I don’t have a problem with people who are going to vote for Mitt Romney. I have a big problem with people who are voting “yes.”
All righteous indignation aside, I’m pretty proud of this episode. Please listen.
A podcast all about The Shat!
On Friday, the hosts of the “Look at His Butt” podcast came to see The Complete Works of William Shatner (abridged). After the show, they sat down to interview the cast, writers and director.
Fortunately, they loved the show. If they hadn’t, it would have been really awkward.
If you’d like to listen to their review of the show and the interview that features me, Bill Stiteler, Windy Bowlsby, Brandon Ewald, Tim Uren, Duck Washington and John Newstrom, you can do that by clicking here!
I am a podcasting MACHINE!!!!
A Spooooky Geeks Without God
Another Tuesday morning and another episode of Geeks Without God! We have another installment of our Geeky Boners in which we talk about all sorts of geeky stuff but mostly Borderlands 2. Man o man is Nick obsessed with Borderlands 2.
I was also allowed to pimp my band a little bit. So that was cool.
Actually, the episode ended up being our longest yet because we proceeded to talk about how much we all like Halloween and it turns out we like Halloween nearly as much as Nick likes Borderlands 2.
So listen up if that’s your thing!
Geeks Without God Does it Again
What do we do again? We have a brand new episode up on a Tuesday morning! Talk about consistency!
For this week’s episode, we talked with our friend Porter right after the riots in Libya and Egypt and we found ourself getting pretty focused on Islam for the first time. It kind of mystified all of us that anyone (of any religion) would kill someone in the name of god. Because we focus so much on Christianity in America, we don’t always recognize that other parts of the world are faced with different religions doing the same thing.
We also talked about deep fried bacon.
It was a very interesting conversation. Have a listen if you wanna!
New Vilification Tennis Podcast
We got a little bit behind on podcasting for Vilification Tennis during the festival season but this weekend I managed to get some folks together to record a new episode.
I managed to get Mark Lazarchic and Bob Alberti to start arguing politics. Unfortunately, I had to cut them off after about ten minutes but I think the podcast is worth listening to just for that. There’s also a lot of talk about a lesbian in Hong Kong because that’s the kind of podcast we do.
We also get really in-depth talking about the Renaissance Festival, including a lot of behind the scenes stuff. I think it turned out to be a good episode in spite of the worst home game rounds ever.
New Geeks Without God Episode is Live!
This week’s episode is just the three of us talking about atheism. We spent some time talking about the differences between “atheist” and “non-believer” before we moved on to talk about the Atheism Plus movement. We also found time to read through another set of listener questions. There’s a lot of big ideas and we didn’t really have time to get in-depth but it’s an interesting conversation about what is going on in the atheism movement right now.
Or at least a month ago when we recorded the episode. If you choose to listen, I hope you enjoy it.
Geeks Without God is all new!
This week over at Geeks Without God, we have an episode with Ronn Bauman from the Tortuga Twins that was so awesome, we recorded it twice.
Actually, what literally happened was I was a dumb fuck and when I was saving the introduction to the episode, I named the file the same thing as the episode and I overwrote the file. Turns out, that is just about the only mistake you can’t fix.
So we got together the following morning and recorded the podcast again. And we did pretty well. We don’t spend too much time talking about how we’ve said all of this stuff before.
Ronn is a big fan of our podcast and a terrific guest. He was so good, in fact, that we recorded a second episode with him that I did not overwrite! That one probably won’t air for a few months so for now, enjoy this one!
It seems pretty clear that I never stop talking
Last week, I sat down with Levi Weinhagen and recorded an episode of Pratfalls of Parenting. I’ve been doing a lot of podcasting lately but I’m usually the host. It was fun being the subject. I believe I said interesting and amusing things but I haven’t had a chance to listen to the finished podcast yet. You can listen for yourself!
