Men’s Rights Douchebags Bash on Captain Marvel
Whenever a movie comes out that some on the right term a “SJW” movie (yes that’s an actual term), a few things happen.
First, these folks decide the best use of their time is to artificially deflate the movie’s popularity by posting terrible reviews. Until rottentomatoes.com shut down pre-film audience reviews, they were already posting negative reviews of a movie they hadn’t seen. Now that the movie is out, they still haven’t seen the movie but are welcome to review the movie anyway and, as a result, Captain Marvel has a lower audience rating than Alita: Battle Angel.
Part of the butthurt comes from the time Brie Larson said that Captain Marvel wasn’t made for white men (except she didn’t actually say that). And while Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career is littered with films he didn’t make for women or people of color, when one woman suggests not every movie has to appeal to white dudes (although I must reiterate that she never said this), white dudes get angry. And when they get angry, they torpedo the Rottentomatoes audience rating!
Why the FUCK won’t Hollywood make any movies for white guys???
In addition to using their massive power to bork what is, effectively, a poll on the internet, they are also complaining about everything wrong with the film. Included in these complaints are conservative Christians upset by a woman with agency, and at least one person who feels that the film emasculated Nick Fury because he is shown washing dishes.
Me, I see Nick Fury washing dishes and I think “what crazy fool allowed that man access to a fork” immediately followed by “oh shit – he’s also got a knife!”
But hey, if you want to get all upset because Fury, who seems to be single and probably does his own dishes and even his own laundry all the time, is somehow emasculated by cleaning up after dinner, then go ahead and do so. I’m gonna go watch Captain Marvel again to make up for one of these dickbags who isn’t going.
Not that the movie needed my help since it had the third biggest opening of any film in the MCU. Take that, rottentomatoes audience rating!

Dad Who Dressed his Kid as Hitler Upset that People Yelled at his Child
So the father in question dressed as an SS officer and dressed his kid up as Hitler.
Now we could argue that this was just innocent cosplay except for two things: the dad’s other social media posts indicate he is at least sympathetic to the Nazi ideology and there is no way dressing your kid up as Hitler is innocent!
This guy knew what he was doing. He was using Halloween as an excuse to dress up as a Nazi because he’s always wanted to dress up as a Nazi. He claims it is because he and his kid “love history” but there is a whole lot of history that isn’t Nazi Germany to pick from.
Now, if adults at the Halloween event came up to a child who looks to be around 5-7 years old and yelled at that child for his costume choice, that certainly doesn’t help matters. They should have instead yelled at the father dressed as an SS officer.
I mean, it’s pretty clear where the issue starts, don’t you think?
Hint: It’s the guy whose face isn’t obscured.
I don’t feel sorry for this guy. He’s a white supremacist who viewed a holiday as a coming out party.
I feel a little sorry for his kid because he’ll either turn out a white supremacist or spend most of his life estranged from his parents. So please, adults, do a better job adulting, OK?
The kid is still a kid and he doesn’t understand what he’s doing.

With Christmas and January 1st falling on Fridays, I’ve been a bit backlogged on this column. That means this week might feature more anger than usual. If you are a regular reader, I’m sorry for the time off.
A Couple of Prosperity Preachers Spend Some Time Justifying Their Private Jets
The sheer amount of privilege these guys exhibit when they talk about how difficult it is for them to fly coach is remarkable. What is frightening, though, is some of the points they make are completely fair. I hate that.
Imagine you are a super popular preacher who has to travel all over the country. Imagine you are flying somewhere new almost every day. If you had to fly commercial air the whole time, it would be a lot less convenient.
What if god loses your luggage?
I mean, you’d get all the first class upgrades and I’m pretty sure whoever is bringing you in to speak would be paying for your ticket but it would still be less convenient. If you schedule yourself that tightly, it would likely be very difficult to get everywhere you needed to go with commercial airlines. You might have to cut back on your appearances or something. Which would be a damn shame.
Thing is, they are getting luxury jets paid for by convincing poor people to give them money. Lots and lots of money. And they have conversations with god on their planes (not kidding – watch the video) in which god apparently tells them that they should want a better plane.
Which means it is time to fleece the poor people again!

To the credit of the writer, I think he was trying hide his disgust for these guys and file a report that was at least somewhat impartial.
So he impartially reports what they are saying and what they say is completely awful. They talk about the “red pill” moments where they realized, in effect, that women are the enemy. Every one of those red pill moments is a paranoid fantasy.
What’s worse? They fucking co-opted The Matrix for their girl-hating movement!

When I watch that movie, I already am forced to acknowledge it was made by the same people who made Jupiter Ascending. But now it has provided a catch phrase for one of the most embarrassing activist groups in existence.

I don’t suggest clicking on the link above. I know very few people who would sympathize with what is written there.
As someone who tries very hard to support feminism, I see nothing of value in this woman’s rant about how men are clearly inferior to women. They aren’t. They are different. In some (mostly physical) ways men have certain advantages. In other ways they do not. When you remove the obstacles society creates for women, men and women are mostly equal.
Except Matt Damon. Matt Damon is clearly superior to everyone. I want to be clear that his superiority has nothing to do with his gender.
The problem is people viewing this extreme point of view and calling it feminism. As if all feminists are out there just despising men for having the misfortune to exist.
When, in truth, hardly any of them are.
Every point of view has it’s extremes. The problem becomes people viewing the extreme position as representative of the entire position. Feminism is about working to fix a society that is off balance. It is not about creating a “utopia” where men don’t exist.

Canadian School Board Candidate Wants Creationism Taught in Schools
Her picture looks adorable. I’m sure she’s twenty. Maybe.
She is firmly of the opinion that they should teach the controversy (that doesn’t exist). She also says that schools should focus on the “basics” of education.
Like evolution, right?
No no no no no no no no!
Well, she thinks it should be taught in science classrooms alongside creationism. She also thinks sex education should be abstinence only because that is also “basic.”
As basic as Abstinence-Bible-Contraceptives are tools of the Devil!
Is this barely not-teenager going to be elected? I doubt it.
And yet I’m tired of living in a world where people continue to believe that creationism should be given the same amount of time in the classroom. And I’m tired of living in a world where we continue to argue about abstinence-only sex education when the evidence clearly shows it is inadequate.

Atheist Shoots Video of Himself Being a Total Dick
I complain about stupid religious people all the time so it is only fair that I get a little annoyed when an atheist is a complete jerk.
This charming fellow is understandably upset about a nativity scene set up on public land. Especially given they have nothing representing other religions. Only Christianity. Totally unconstitutional, that.
So what does he do? He posts a video of himself in a profanity laden rant that completely undermines the whole argument. Hating on Christianity (or it’s trappings) just shifts the focus to his asshole behavior rather than keeping it on the fact that you can’t put a nativity scene on public land.
Maybe if I get the gun a little closer, I can be sure I won’t miss….
It frustrates me when an atheist acts like the asshole so many people seem to believe the rest of us are because the conversation get hijacked. Nobody is talking about the separation of church and state. They are talking about a guy being a dick.
And the guy being a dick also happens to be an atheist. So the conversation becomes about how atheists are dicks rather than how this one guy is a dick and he’d be a dick no matter what he believed.

Chris Kluwe Released by the Vikings
I don’t know for certain why he was let go. I could speculate and a lot of other people have but the fact is the dude is a great voice for change and now he’s on his way out of town.
He’s bigger than the game he plays. I know that sounds ridiculous given Football is the most profitable professional sport in the world but it is just a sport. Kluwe tried to use his celebrity to help achieve a higher goal.
What goal could be higher than balancing a football on your middle finger? Get your priorities straight, Chris! Get it? Straight???? Get it?????????
And I’m pretty sure he got fired for it. I guess you should have waited to speak your mind until you weren’t a professional football player, Chris.
Not a problem now though! Boo-yah!
Shit that Pissed me Off This Week – 9/28
A Story from Inside the Westboro Baptist Church
The Story is one of the finest radio programs on the air. Dick Gordon is one of the best interviewers I’ve ever heard and he finds amazing subjects every single episode. If I didn’t have a life, I would be listening between 9:00 and 10:00 PM every night.
This week he interviewed Nate Phelps, one of Fred Phelps’ sons. I’ve said for a long time that I’m going to maintain strict radio silence where the Westboro Baptist Chuch is concerned because talking about them gives them power and attention and that’s exactly what they want. I’m breaking my vow of silence to talk about the one thing we don’t really understand about these people.
Listening to Nate talk about the history of intellectual and physical abuse that he was subjected to at the hand of his father, I came to understand the tragic nature of the world Fred Phelps has created. He creates hateful, awful people by creating a world that makes that behavior seem normal.
Kids don’t think this without a trusted adult force feeding it to them
When you hear Nate’s description of that insular society, you almost feel sorry for the people who have been, quite literally, brainwashed into doing what they do. Worse, every one of them is being taught how to make sure the next generation does the same thing.
It’s a never ending cycle of hatred and we all feed into it by hating them right back. I wish I knew the solution. I wish I could figure out how to rescue these kids from the cycle of hatred and abuse that Fred Phelps has created.
I don’t know how to do that. I just fear that every time those hate filled people are met with (deserving) hatred and anger, we are perpetuating the problem.
